Mr. Pushing Up Daisy
2007, I was inspired by Ghostess Deanna’s Daisy Prop so much, I decided to make my own rendition. Unfortunately, I did not take step-by-step pictures on how I made my version; however, I will try my best to explain. By the way, this was my very first MonsterMud project. Thanks Deanna!
I started off covering a Bucky skull with aluminum foil. Once foil was smoothed in place, I began layering and over lapping glue with my hot glue gun. I wanted his face to be more “vein” like in appearance; that is why I selected this method to make his skull. Once the glue was set, I used scissors and cut the form off my Bucky skull and re-glued the two halves together again. I used Great Stuff Foam to fill in the inner portion of his skull for added strength.
I followed the same steps as Deanna for his petals (using 12pk Mountain Dew cartons to form the petal structure). I cut small slits in his skull and glued petals in place (using hot glue) randomly around his skull. My daughter is going to kill me for posting these pictures….as you can tell by her facial expression she was thrilled to help pose the prop.
I only did a couple things different vs. Deanna’s Daisy.
1) I decided not to have him permanently mounted in a base. I wanted to be able to place him in different locations in my garden and have the option to place him in a flower pot.
2) I used creepy cloth dipped in MonsterMud for is branches instead of burlap.
Below you will see my first MonsterMud application. I used a paint brush to apply the mud to the petals. NOTE: Once the MonsterMud is applied, the petals become soft and limp allowing you to bend/curl to your liking.

After the MonsterMud was dry (luckily only took one day here in Ohio), I painted him with various green and brown acrylic paints and added 2 coats of clear coat for added protection.
